Anatomy of lower back
The spine is made up of vertebrae, with discs between them that act as shock absorbers. Muscles, ligaments and soft tissues support the spine, protect surrounding structures and allow bending, extension, side-bending and rotation.
Nerves leave the spine between the vertebrae and travel to other areas of the body, including the legs. Understanding how these structures work can make it easier to understand the possible source of symptoms and the purpose of your rehabilitation plan.
At Rose Clinic, assessment, progress reviews and exercise education are used to help you manage a back injury and build a sensible long-term plan.
